From the Turtle's Mouth

I'm interested in theology, philosophy, history, life, and wives. If you remain here long enough, you'll probably hear something about each of these things.

Whilst reading my book obsessively as I have been recently, I came across something which pertained to one of our family's favorite games: Pit.

"The game was developed for Parker Brothers and first sold in 1904. This popular version of the game was developed by Edgar Cayce, who would also become famous for his psychic predictions.[1]"

How disgusting. I wonder if I'll ever be able to play it the same. It raises some important questions. More info later.

Burlap to Cashmere's MySpace page

Good music that I enjoy. I like the lead singer's voice; I would describe his voice as a mid-pitched sound with a bit of grit in it. Check out the four songs they have linked there for free.

The Trinity Foundation has a great selection of MP3 lectures available for free download on their website. The speakers range from E. Calvin Beisner to Gordon Clark, but mostly, they are given by Dr. John Robbins and Dr. Gordon Clark. The four primary topics covered are apologetics, economics, philosophy, and theology. Of special interest is the first, because Drs. Clark & Robbins expound and promote their particular form of apologetics, which by them is called "Scripturalism" and by others is called "fideistic rationalism". It's a free download, so why not do it? You'll learn some things you've never known before, like the "Logic of Jesus".

Today, we visited a fine Christian fellowship. I'm not dependably social in alien quarters, but even though I didn't know most people's names, I had a good time of fellowship with them within the bonds of Christian love.

We witnessed a baptism after services; we, along with the entire church, walked down and around to the basketball area behind the church where they had set up an interesting pool-like structure filled with water( afterward, I learned that it was a water reservoir borrowed from the local volunteer fire department ). It was a special occasion with which I could relate and enjoy with the regular assembly members. May the Lord God bless the young man in his newly public Christian walk.

After that point, we briefly stayed and visited in the parking lot until someone invited us over to his house. This church has a rotating system of guest fellowship in which any and all guests have a designated host who invites them to his house for food and fellowship. I like this system, since it ensures we always have a fun place to go.

This time, we went to Herman Beachy's house with a bunch of regular assembly members. I suspect that on Sunday a lot of fellowship takes place whether or not there are guests; every time we've been invited over to someone's house, we've been accompanied by at least two or three other regular / semi-regular attenders. It's a fine system, I say.

After meals, we played some fine rounds of volleyball with the local teens. I believe I talked too much, but overall the time went well and we all enjoyed ourselves.

To sum it all up, this weekend has been a restful lazy time. Thank the Lord we can do such things from time to time. Tomorrow, some rather important events should be occurring which I look forward to telling you about afterward. Until then, may the Lord God richly bless you.
I apologize for any fruitless visits here during the last day or two; I went on a camping trip from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, during which time I had no Internet( believe it or not ). I hope to be posting something useful soon.

Thanks for reading!

About Me

My photo
turtle believes his Bible, loves His God, and is being divinely conformed unto the image of God's Son, though if one were to think in terms of Romans 9, turtle would confess that he is a very stubborn and brittle piece of clay. thankfully, the Potter works omnipotently for turtle's good and shows him mercy and grace every day.
